Toronto’s Union Station is Canada’s busiest and largest multi-modal transportation hub, serving over 300,000 passengers daily. Opened in 1927, it is a Beaux-Arts architectural landmark and a National Historic Site in downtown Toronto. Beyond connecting passengers to many transit options, Union Station is more than a station, hosting multidisciplinary year-round events, like Union Summer, Union Winter, and Black History Month, while also offering over 70+ retail and food options.
The Project
Union Station requires regularly updated promotional signage to support its annual events.
For Union Summer, which features outdoor street food vendors, the station needed exterior panel signs. In search of a company, Union Station approached Made 2 Measure Signworks in Spring 2022.
Custom Sign Solution
During the consultation, Made 2 Measure Signworks asked a series of questions about the event and its goals. Union Station initially required exterior panel signs to showcase featured vendors.
Upon learning that Made 2 Measure Signworks offers full-service custom signage solutions— design, production, and installation—Union Station expanded its request. Since then, our company has collaborated with Union Station on multiple events.
Our company went on to provide a variety of signage:
- Wall graphics, window vinyl, several art panels, window vinyl, and DJ booths for the annual Union Summer event.
- Custom wall graphics, panel signs, floor graphics, and long wrap barriers for the annual Union Winter event, which featured the first-ever Roller Rink Express.
- AODA panels using Braille, large aluminum wall coverings, and multiple free-standing art walls for Black History Month
Results
Through a consultative approach and in-house team, we provided a comprehensive sign service for Union Station’s annual events. This collaboration expanded to larger-scale projects requiring design, production, and installation solutions.
